The Be2 media award - or best 'old media/new media' category - was created to reflect the changing nature of the publishing world in the AEC, FM and property sectors. Traditional print titles are adapting their activities to cater for the explosion in internet use, and this award will go to the publisher or publication that has most effectively risen to the challenges and opportunities of social media. It might be a conventional publication that has successfully incorporated Web 2.0 into its output or it might be a new-style publication, news service or application that has been created specifically to engage with content consumers via the web or mobile devices.

Best AEC online community, network or application will go to the person or organisation which has created the most effective and interactive online space for like-minded people to share ideas and information about their work or special interests in architecture, engineering, construction, etc. The possibilities are numerous. Maybe you know a really good Facebook or LinkedIn group or a community that uses other social networking platforms? Perhaps your AEC membership organisation is helping its members share knowledge and expertise? Or maybe there has been a project which has used Web 2.0 tools to engage with local people or other end-users of a built asset? (And, again, size isn't everything!)

Best AEC PR campaign is for public relations consultancies and/or in-house teams which have deployed social media tools and techniques really effectively as part of their campaign work in the architecture, engineering, construction or related sectors. Have you used Web 2.0 approaches alongside other PR tactics to enhance the reputation of your organisation, its products or services? Or maybe you faced a social media backlash about something and were able to respond quickly? Showing some measurable business benefits might help your case to win an award here.

Best AEC use of Twitter will go to a person or organisations making really effective use of Twitter in their work in the architecture, engineering, construction, property, facilities management or infrastructure sectors. We are looking for individuals or organisations who you think demonstrate good practice in use of Twitter, perhaps people who are helpful or great sources of information, or who are great at engaging with other people online. Remember: size isn't everything. The award shouldn't be judged on the numbers of Tweets or followers someone has; the quality of interaction is what matters.

The best education and learning project will look at specific projects which have deployed social media as part of their communication strategy. Here we might be talking about building projects - perhaps schools or college facilities - where teams have used Web 2.0 tools and techniques to engage with the supply chain or with end-users. Or maybe you know about a knowledge-sharing project which has used wikis or other tools for professional learning among AEC industry professionals. This is your chance to share that learning with us....

The best location-based AEC application category recognises that construction remains a highly mobile and geographically dispersed industry. New generations of Web 2.0 applications are using GPS and mapping technologies, sometimes 'mashing-up' location with other data, to deliver rich information either on-site or remotely about sites. Nominations might include virtual reality, augmented reality smartphone applications, mobile phone presence detection tools, or web-based applications delivering information about goods and services in a particular place.

The best sustainability blog of the year will go to a blog looking at sustainability from the perspective of someone engaged with the worlds of architecture, engineering, construction, property, facilities management or related technologies.

The blog should deliver lively, engaging and original content, and show evidence of its interaction with readers about its content.

The best Web 2.0 application for construction products or materials is a category to reward innovation among the many thousands of companies that manufacture or supply construction-related components and materials. Perhaps they apply social media tools and techniques during specification, design and fabrication of their goods? Maybe they deploy social media tools effectively as part of their customer service? Or maybe we're talking about an Amazon-style portal that shares customer recommendations about particular items and/or the companies that supply or manufacture them? Share your nominations here.
